MFHC operates a Specialist Clinic in the lower level of Sitka Community Hospital. The clinic is attended by a mix of resident and visiting out-of-town specialists including General Surgery, Otolaryngology, Podiatry, Allergists and others. Patients generally require a referral by their primary care provider (PCP) to be seen by a specialist. Please contact the specialist clinic at 747-1739 for more information. Richard Wein, MD General Surgeon Since 2001, Dr. Wein has served the surgical needs of patients in both Sitka and other communities throughout Southeast Alaska. Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Wein came to Sitka after 20 years in private surgical practice. In New Jersey, Dr. Wein served as hospital Chief of Staff and a member of the board of trustees of the Atlantic Health System. A graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine, he also holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Columbia University in New York.
