MFHC operates a Specialist Clinic in the lower level of Sitka Community Hospital. The clinic is attended by a mix of resident and visiting out-of-town specialists including General Surgery, Otolaryngology, Podiatry, Allergists and others. Patients generally require a referral by their primary care provider (PCP) to be seen by a specialist. Please contact the specialist clinic at 747-1739 for more information.
Richard Wein, MD
Since 2001, Dr. Wein has served the surgical needs of patients in both Sitka and other communities throughout Southeast Alaska. Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Wein came to Sitka after 20 years in private surgical practice. In New Jersey, Dr. Wein served as hospital Chief of Staff and a member of the board of trustees of the Atlantic Health System. A graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine, he also holds both Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Columbia University in New York. Dr. Wein is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
|Allergist - Teresa A. Neeno, MD, FAAP, FACAA. Board Certified in Allergy/Immunology and specializes in Pediatrics. Dr. Neeno has been a practicing allergist since 1996. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1991, she completed her pediatric residency at Keesler Medical Center followed by her allergy immunology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. A recipient of the US Air Force Health Professions Scholarship, Dr. Neeno has authored and published multiple articles and abstracts. She is a frequent speaker and lecturer and has presented her research at national meetings across the United States. A mother of 3 active children, Dr. Neeno can be found shuttling between the Rock Gym, the Wrestling Gym, and cross-country ski areas. |Plastic Surgeon - Dr. Thomas Meeks: Dr. Meeks enlisted in the U.S. Navy which he proudly served for 6 years earning several commendations and serving in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He completed his undergraduate education at Eastern Washington University with honors by earning dual degrees in Biology and Chemistry. He then attended medical school at Des Moines University earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree. Dr. Meeks then completed four years of General Surgery residency before transferring into a two year Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Plastic Surgery is a branch of surgery that is really quite unique to medicine. Although he lived outside the state of Washington during his medical training, he decided to return for several reasons; family, outdoor beauty, recreational opportunity and autonomy in his practice. The unique practice setup allows him the flexibility to do as his heart wishes. Dr. Meeks is married to his lovely wife Emily with whom they have four energetic children with whom he tries to spend as much time with as possible. His two sons, Stephen and TJ, have special needs which put an emphasis on community involvement and raising awareness. His two daughters, Madison and Alexa, keep him very grounded with their activities.|
