Surgical Services at Sitka Community Hospital includes outpatient admission for surgery, the operating room, central processing, the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, anesthesia services, and Same-Day Surgery and procedures.
All patients who enter Sitka Community Hospital for surgery as inpatient or outpatient are admitted through the Out Patient Surgery Unit or the Nursing Unit. While the majority of patients are discharged on the same day, some may require an overnight stay on an inpatient unit.
Patients are typically seen one to three days in advance of their scheduled surgery, at which time they are evaluated by an RN and Anesthetist. The preoperative evaluation will include preoperative and postoperative teaching and may include labs to be drawn. The RN will discuss any questions and concerns that you might have at the time.
A General Surgeon is present at all times. Visiting surgeons perform specialty procedures.
